In this issue, we bring you opinions, articles and an update on news and events.

Welcome to the May 2012 – and 6th anniversary - issue of ReConnect Africa magazine!

Six years on, our mission to be a platform that brings together the best of Africa and its professionals continues unabated. We have grown our readership to over 20,000 subscribers and I am grateful beyond measure to all of you who have continued to read and circulate the monthly newsletters. Our contributors, sponsors, media partners and supporters have been unflagging in their support and we look forward to another year of bringing you news, views and information to help you in your lives and careers. Thank you!

In this issue, we focus on Uganda and Collison Lore explores the apparel and horticulture sectors in Uganda, now one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, in Investing in Uganda. We look at the Uganda capital markets scene and how the last two decades have witnessed a pivotal transformation of the Ugandan economy in The State of Uganda's Stocks.

In common with many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, finding employment in Uganda, particularly for Ugandans abroad, can be a tough proposition. In our Careers section, Collison Lore looks at the Ugandan employment market and offers tips on how to succeed in 'Job Seeking in Uganda – Entering the Ugandan Job Market'. With the rise of corporate social responsibility, a new report sheds light on careers within this area and the gaps that still remain in 'The State of the Corporate Responsibility Profession'. Also in this section, our careers coach offers advice on how to handle office bullies in Ask the Career Coach – 'How Do I Deal with the Bully at Work?'

In 'Linking through Language' we speak to Naomi Fletcher about how the Ghanaian Language School is helping people embrace Ghanaian culture and enhance their knowledge.

Also, in this month's Diaspora section, Yomi Oloko of Development Impact for Nigeria (DFIN) is seeking UK-based Nigerians to support their skills training initiatives in Making an Impact.

Our guest interviewee in this month's '5 Minute Interview' is South African luthier Brian Lisus who shares some of the lessons he has learned along the way.

May sees an extensive line-up of events in the UK and overseas and our Events listing gives you details of what's on this month and some un-missable Dates for your Diary .
