Job Summary: Responsibility for setting and achieving regional student recruitment goals.
Job Description: The postholder will have responsibility for setting and achieving regional student recruitment goals. They will work primarily in support of recruitment objectives but exercise additional oversight and coordination of partnership, engagement and profile raising activity within Africa and the Middle East. Working as part of a newly extended and ambitious International Department, the Regional Manager will have responsibility for both setting and achieving regional goals. They work primarily in support of recruitment objectives, but exercise additional oversight and coordination of partnership, engagement and profile raising activity within a given region. As a key member of the management team, the post holder will have significant input into the University’s overall engagement within a given region. They will rely on a detailed understanding of the locale, of opportunities within it and have a very clear sense of how the University can invest in the region to greatest effect. The post will involve line management responsibility for a small number of staff, as well as cross-functional leadership within a given region. Main Duties 1. Working under the direction of the Head of Global Recruitment and Engagement, manage overall activity, staff and resources in support of the University’s international recruitment targets within a specified region 2. Undertake a leading role in the wider direction of activity within the region, contributing to the development of a dedicated regional strategy and working in close consultation with academics, partnership staff, alumni and research functions to agree effective and coordinated engagement strategies for the region 3. Liaise closely with other members of the International Department team (recruitment, marketing and admissions, in particular) to ensure operational synergies and resource efficiencies across the wider team and department 4. Work in close cooperation with the Head of Global Partnerships and Programmes to agree regional partnership priorities and lend both expertise and support to partnership engagement and activity wherever necessary 5. Work in close cooperation with the both the Head of Global Marketing and the Head of Global Recruitment and Engagement, to agree impactful recruitment and marketing strategies within the given region 6. Develop and maintain strong links with all faculties/schools, creating channels for the exchange of intelligence and information, market insight and proposals for development within the region 7. Serve as the specialist responsible for overall recruitment activity, on behalf of the University, in specific markets. This will involve devising market specific strategies, creating evidence based cases for investment, devising spend from within a given allocation and executing activity effectively within the region 8. Devise impactful overseas itineraries that deliver against agreed recruitment objectives and have a clear benefit for the University’s overall success and positioning internationally 9. Work with other regional leads, as well as with the Head of Global Recruitment and Engagement, to develop criteria to effectively measure the effectiveness of activity within the given region, ensuring that high levels of efficiency and RoI. 10. Provide specialist market intelligence and information as well as convincing market analyses and reports to colleagues University-wide, and in particular to the Head of Global Recruitment and Engagement 11. Provide expert cultural knowledge and market intelligence within the Department, in order to help inform both local, operational activity, as well as wider strategic decisions 12. Establish strong relationships with key influencers, developing and managing a wide range of contacts with international schools, colleges, universities, funding bodies and sponsors, the British Council, agents, and Ulster alumni from within the region 13. Support the design, management and execution of high level in and outward missions and visits 14. Represent the University locally and overseas
Requirements: Substantive experience in recruitment of international students Budgetary management experience Track record in delivering successful international recruitment strategies within a given region Experience of managing staff or coordinating teams Experience in the implementation of successful international partnerships Evidence of extensive understanding of international markets, opportunities and trends Evidence of a clear understanding of the immigration and compliance landscape, relative to international student recruitment Evidence of strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyse data, identify issues and related responses Evidence of ability to set goals and identify effective, creative solutions to help meet business objectives Evidence of ability to work flexibly – managing changing and competing priorities Evidence of high levels of cultural competence Outstanding communication skills with the proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels Evidence of ability to inspire a culture of collaboration and shared accountability Evidence of ability to work within and beyond the immediate team, contributing toward achievement of wider regional and international objectives Evidence of commitment to providing an outstanding service environment Willingness to travel for up to 16 weeks per year (approximately) Willingness to work outside of normal working hours as required Fluency in more than one language
