The X-Mas Hot Plate event is set to make a difference to street children in Accra this Christmas
Christmas is noted as one of the special days in the lives of many children around the globe. Yet there are many needy children who lack basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter and, as the excitement of Christmas is hyped, many souls on the streets are forgotten and the message of Christmas becomes meaningless.
Mylyfline.Com Foundation is a charity registered in the UK and in Ghana and which is dedicated to providing support to poor children and vulnerable families in society. Promoting welfare community based projects, the Foundation works hand in hand with communities, orphanages, charities and families of poor children to make their world a safer, healthier and a happier place to live in.
To make Christmas 2011 special for at least some of the children in her country, Ghana, UK-based Adelaide Ansah of Mylyfline.Com is organizing an event for street children and orphans in Accra.
The event, dubbed the 'X-Mas Hot Plate' will give an opportunity for the street children in Accra to gather at one venue and celebrate Christmas in grand style. Activities lined up for this event will include a Christmas party, fun games, music & dance, and a medical screening exercise.
To be held at the Efua Sutherland Children's Park in Accra from 11.00 am on Christmas Day, X-Mas Hot Plate will serve sumptuous healthy meals with drinks and dessert. Featuring entertainment from renowned local and international musicians and comedians including Dr. Cryme, Sugar Ranking and Ama K. Abebrese, the event is free to enter and also open to the general public.
The event is supported by sponsors from both the UK and Ghana, including Voltic Ghana Ltd, Redrow Developments Ltd., E-Jam Records, Artline, Swan Hotel and the TASMAC London School of Business, UK and Jesus House of Brent Cross in London.
"We encourage organisations and individuals who would like to support us in cash or kind to contact us on the follow details or simply register at www.lyfline.com/volunteer or www.lyfline.com/donate", says Adelaide.
Mylyfline.Com Foundation establishes, mobilises and organises groups and communities by combining community-targeted development programmes with experience-based workshops and educational projects to equip vulnerable families with the required knowledge and skills necessary for developing practical entrepreneurial competencies.
Although based in the UK, Adelaide is on a mission to help those living in difficult circumstances.
"We strongly believe that the less fortunate in our world have equally great potential and, if given a little push with the right tools, their potential can be unearthed and they can begin to fend for themselves, thereby lessening the impact of poverty in their lives."
The X-Mas Hot Plate event is the Foundation's maiden event and one that Adelaide plans to continue, she says. "We hope to organize this event on a yearly basis and with time extend it to other regional capitals in Ghana."
