Allan Kamau is the Associate Publisher of This is Africa, a quarterly published by the Financial Times Ltd, one of the world's leading business news organisations. Prior to this, Allan worked as Editor of Africa Investor magazine based in London, reporting on issues affecting Africa's trade and investment environment.
A graduate of the University of Nairobi, Allan subsequently earned an MBA from the United States International University. He joined Exxon Mobil Corporation in Kenya as a Public Affairs Advisor, relocating to the Paris office in 1999 as a Marketing Support Manager.
In 2000, Allan returned to Kenya as Marketing Manager for Nation Media Group, the leading East African newspaper publisher, TV, and radio broadcasting group, where he developed the ground breaking TV series "Business Minds", profiling top East Africa businesses, and was also lead presenter on Nation's TV's evening news.
In 2002, Allan moved to London to join LIMRA, a market intelligence provider specialising in the financial services sector, as Head of Marketing and Public Relations, for two years. For the next five years, as Managing Director of Africa Investor Ltd., Allan managed one of Africa's most respected publishing, research, and advisory firms.
Responsible for a team of twenty in the UK, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tanzania, he provided leadership for Pan-African clients, advising on African economic issues, investment and media.
Allan is a frequent media commentator on business in Africa and serves on the advisory board of Junior Achievement in Africa.
