In his 75th Anniversary show, Ablade Glover, one of Ghana's foremost painters, will exhibit a selection of work revealing his lifelong passion for life, activity and colour. Using warm pigments expressive of the sun and heat of his country, Glover depicts vibrant scenes that mirror the exuberant variety of Africa; the bustling market stalls, the brightly-attired crowds and all the energy of Ghana. Glover insists that oil painting has an integral part to play in the contemporary arts of Africa, both as a means of individual expression and as a potent medium in which to record and celebrate the visual richness of the continent.
The universality of Glover's work is reflected in the breadth and variety of his collectors. His work can be found in such diverse public and private collections around the world as the Imperial Palace Collection of Japan, the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport amongst others. He has exhibited extensively in West Africa, Europe, the USA and Japan. www.octobergallery.co.uk Admission free.

The Africa Mentor Network is here and it's all about Africa Helping Africans. They are launching their organization with a big bang, something new, something unique, and something you would love to be part of. It's all about the African youth and the corporate executives!
The signature "Speed Networking Roundtable" is the premiere-networking event in Ghana bringing together top executives of companies in Ghana with the African youth. This event also launches The Africa Mentor Network. Many African youth have very innovative ideas and exceptional resumes and are looking for that one opportunity to put their best foot forward. They are looking to pitch their big ideas as well as sell their exceptional resumes directly to corporate executives they would never get to meet on a regular day or possibly in their lifetime. These executives are also highly regarded and admired as role models to the youth and to the Ghanaian community.
Building on a foundation of ten great years of The Star HRDA, our highly successful human resources, training and education expo is GROWING and CHANGING to embrace new pillars of opportunity. Through independent research, we asked our exhibitors and visitors for their views on the show and the feedback provided great insight into this critical sector. Ideas flowed to revamp and repackage the show to better serve the needs of the industry. It has motivated new thinking and ideas and The Star Human Resources Development Expo 2009 is the result.
The overwhelming majority of respondents are in favour of a show that includes all aspects of HR. This means that in addition to training and development, which has been the largest component of the exhibition, there will be additional elements such as recruitment, labour law, IT, payroll systems, pension funds, medical aid administration, coaching and mentoring and BEE to be included. These are all important aspects of HR, which we will endeavour to feature more prominently as The Star HRDE looks forward to the next 10 years.

The objective of the Food Exhibition Mauritius (FEM) is to bring together potential trading partners from around the world.
Africa is the world’s second largest continent after Asia and has 54 independent countries with an estimated total population of 700 million. Indeed it is a hugely untapped market that remains hungry for new products and services – thus providing a wide range of business opportunities for enterprising business people.
The growing demand for goods in Africa is clearly reflected in statistics. Shipping lines servicing the Dubai-Africa route are experiencing a welcome rise in business with the coming of African bulk buyers during the past two to three years. Among the major destinations of UAE exports, are Nigeria, Mauritania, Senegal, Gabon, Ghana and the Ivory Coast in West Africa, and Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya in East Africa. Africa is indeed a very lucrative market. Those dealing in products manufactured in the Far East (China, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia etc) India and Pakistan will find a ready market for their products as Africa is by and large a very price-sensitive market.

These challenges are further compounded by increasing convergence and the volatile economic climate.
In order to ensure revenue growth from the latest technological innovations and adequately address the potential effects of the current economic downturn, African operators need to develop and adapt their billing, RA and fraud strategies, processes and systems.
This year's event programme will analyse the key challenges in the area of billing, RA and fraud, providing detailed insights into their complexity and the strategies African operators are adopting to optimise their systems, internal processes and business cultures in order to effectively assure revenue from a rapidly growing subscriber base, convergent services and new business models.
