Anna Vanderpuye - Owunne
I was educated at....
....Accra Girls Secondary school in Ghana, then at Enfield College in the UK before going on to study at the University of East London.
My first job was....
....working at the Londonderry Hotel, Park Lane, as a Room service/minibar supervisor! But before then I worked as a volunteer at Save the Children in their Events and Fundraising departments, as well as with various Diaspora community groups.
What I do now is....
....Coordinate the Africa UK Diaspora Initiative for the Royal African Society, alongside my role as the CEO of INGO Third Sector Resource.
Anna Vanderpuye Owunne is an accomplished Development practitioner, and a consultant with an impeccable pedigree of development work.
A dynamic and proactive individual, who holds a degree in African Development Studies and an honorary doctorate for Arts and Culture from the University of Florence, her motivation is to make a real difference for the African region globally by engaging its Diaspora.
Anna is the coordinator of the Africa-UK initiative. She is also the CEO of INGO Third Sector Resource.
Both organisations promote dialogue and advocacy, and explore reasonable frameworks for mutual co-operation and collaboration to further Africa’s Development Agenda.
What I learned along the way is....
....the importance of leaving my mark, no matter how small, on the sands of time for future generations.
My greatest influence has been....
....The Bible.
The best advice I ever received is....
....successful people do not have two heads. They have one just like me.
My top tips for succeeding in my career area are....
....to learn my strengths and my weaknesses and improve both. To ask for help when I need it; I may get a ‘no’, but then again it could be a ‘yes’. And to listen more!
