Welcome to the November/December 2013 issue of ReConnect Africa magazine!

In this issue, we report on research by KermaPartners that highlights how international law firms are positioning themselves to embrace opportunities in Africa in Legally African. In Leadership Diversity in Corporate South Africa we report on a new study on top executives in South Africa that shows that despite progress with racial and gender equity, the leadership landscape is still lacking in diversity.

In our Diaspora section, Ian Stapleton, founder of Football Gambia, talks about how a trip of a lifetime became the catalyst for a remarkable organisation that uses football as the route to community development. David Dedi reports on his return home and the sweeping changes taking place across the newest nation on the block in Returning Home. In this section, we also talk to the Harvard Nigerian Students Association which was founded in 2004 by a group of Nigerian undergraduate students, and which has grown to become one of the leading organizations for students on campus.

In our Careers section, we continue our ‘Spotlight On..’ series with an interview with Folasade Oyeleye about a career in Film & TV Editing in Spotlight on… Film & TV Editing. Fiona Hathorn talks about her organization, Women on Boards, an open, action-oriented, UK-wide organisation for women seeking to leverage their professional skills and experience into board and leadership roles, and calls for Black women to come on board in Sisters on Board.
