…….to fully develop, you need to seize on the opportunities to learn, and take advantage of the opportunity to work in new areas and learn new skills.

Shiyghan Navti

Founder & CEO, Tech Equity Ltd.

I was educated at....

…the University of Manchester where I obtained a BSc in Structural Engineering with Architecture, and at the University of Wales, Swansea where I obtained an MSc in Computational Modelling and Finite Elements in Engineering Mechanics and a PhD in Computational Modelling.

My first job was....

……with CD-adapco, a supplier of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) software. Computational Fluid Dynamics is a methodology that allows engineers to predict the performance of their designs when exposed to fluid flow, either internal flow such as the flow of air through an engine manifold or external flow such as the aerodynamic flow past an automobile.

What I do now is....

…..enable organizations to harness the power of Enterprise IT systems and software and cloud. I do this as the Founder and CEO of Tech Equity Ltd, a company I set up following a 14 year career at IBM where I held a number of Technical and Business Leadership roles.

Shiyghan Navti is the Founder of Tech Equity Ltd. whose mission is to enable their clients to realize tangible value from emerging enterprise IT business models such as cloud. They provide independent trusted advice, design and implementation systems, and support senior IT executives and management with IT strategy development.

Prior to founding Tech Equity, Shiyghan led the IBM private cloud technical sales business across Europe. Between 2009 and 2011, He was IBM's Africa Expansion Strategy and Marketing Executive. In this role, he was responsible for developing IBM's Sub-Saharan Africa strategy, as well as orchestrating the launch of subsidiaries in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Tanzania and Angola.

Shiyghan has spent most of the last 18 months enabling IT professionals to acquire enterprise IT skills as a consultant, trainer and ambassador for leading cloud professional certification organisations, enabling professionals to acquire cloud certification at cloudclinique.com.

Shiyghan is a certified cloud architect, certified cloud professional and certified cloud trainer. He has a PhD in Computational Modelling and has advised clients across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and USA on cloud adoption methodologies and best practices.

What I learned along the way is…

…..that learning does not stop once you leave college or University. The greatest lessons are learned in the workplace, from colleagues and clients. To fully develop, you need to seize on the opportunities to learn, and take advantage of the opportunity to work in new areas and learn new skills.

The greatest influence on my life has been……

…College classmates. I went to one of the best colleges in Cameroon, Sacred Heart College, and although the teaching methods might not have been exceptional when compared to global standards, I was surrounded by a group of fellow students, mostly all high achievers, with a firm belief that hard work and dedication to studies is the key to long term success. That spirit has remained with me throughout my professional career, enabling me to believe that nothing is impossible.

The best advice I ever received is…

…. from my mother who always told us to “Pray hard, work hard and leave the rest to God”

My top tips for succeeding in my career area are…

….to plan your career path, seize opportunities that come your way and never stop learning… and it helps to know and take account of the office politics!
