Increasing demand for electricity across the East African region has put pressure on existing hydro resources. Recent long term drought and the resulting unavailability of electrical resources has meant an ever increasing search for alternative sources of reliable, sustainable electricity. Geothermal power is increasingly being promoted by governments and multilateral agencies as a resource which could and should be exploited for energy production.
High geothermal resource reliability, sustainability and operational efficiency make it easy to understand why more and more countries are exploiting geothermal resources if they have them. Despite heavy start up costs for geothermal power plants, countries such as Iceland and Japan are investing heavily in the technology and building in overseas territories. Japan has just recently invested some $320 million in Kenyan and more and more technology companies are offering geothermal development packages aimed at developing countries.
Why attend?
As both a renewable energy and economically feasible generation option, Geothermal has been highlighted as a "must have" for East Africa's power sector. The Africa Geothermal Power Summit will be the meeting place for government ,investors, utilities, regulators and vendors to take an in-depth look on how to encourage investment in geothermal, planning and up skilling the correct resources and planning a geothermal facility from feasibility through financing to completion.
The 4th Corporate Africa Partnerships for Prevention and Care Health Conference will promote Africa's health care communities and their international development partners.
With its focus upon private public partnerships to increase investments into prevention and care, the event is an excellent opportunity for the private sector, governments and other stakeholders to engage and develop strategies for stronger national health services and regional markets.
Participants include Government, Investors, SME's Doctors and Consultants, Medical service suppliers, Public Health Directors and Coordinators, Health Agencies and National Business Coalitions combating HIV/AIDS.
The event offers an international platform from which the private and public sectors and their partners can strategize and plan to meet the challenges of improvising social and corporate investments to fill key gaps in the care and prevention of HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria environment.
The Conference offers a first class opportunity for business and governments and their partners to design projects and programmes that can improve coordination, and mobilize human, financial and technology resources to raise efficiency and effectiveness.
The World Energy Council organizes a world congress every three years. This congress, the premier international multi-energy forum with exhibitors from the field, is an opportunity for participants to better understand energy issues and solutions from a global perspective. It brings together more than 3,500 top world leaders in the field of energy, coming from industry, governments, and international organizations, as well as the media, universities and energy industry associations.
The World Energy Council is more than ever committed to working toward responsible growth that reconciles economic development, environmental protection, and the reduction of global inequalities. The point in time is crucial. September 2010 falls 9 months after COP15 and just a few months away from G8 Summit in Canada. The energy industry urgently seeks solutions to "respond now to global challenges," as the situation requires an unprecedented level of cooperation between the energy industry & government, allowance for the realities of emerging economies, and an understanding of the diversity and complexity of the challenges and the evolving needs of the human community.
To underscore the historic milestone the event represents, concurrently with the Congress, Montreal will host the Financial Times Energy Leaders Summit - taking place for the first time outside of London. In addition, for the first time, the Youth Program will be fully integrated into the Congress program. The Congress will also endeavour to ensure adequate representation from developing countries. www.wecmontreal2010.ca

Oil and Gas exploration and production activity in Ghana and West Africa have been steadily increasing in the past few years. With that increase in production has come an increased focus on extracting national value from the resources, managing the aspirations of some of the most dynamic and enterprise people in the world and preventing international companies from contributing to environmental, social and political disruption in the course of their operations.
West Africa is generally an excellent example of the potential of using exploration of natural resources to create investment in local universities, colleges and training provision for national staff. Indeed there is a strong argument that such activity helps to address political unrest and dissatisfaction with international company involvement which has been a feature of oil/gas exploration and production in the region.
So it is in this positive frame of mind that we bring Getenergy to Ghana and West Africa, from 16th - 17th September 2010.
Our intention is to address issues of skills and capability which include:

Our Annual CIPD Coaching at Work Conference provides an ideal opportunity for HR professionals and coaching specialists to explore the latest coaching developments and trends.
Featuring leading coaching experts and best practice organisations, the conference offers practical advice to help you maximise the potential of coaching at your organisation. According to the latest CIPD research 69% of organisations acknowledge the positive contribution coaching has on learning and development. However, in the current climate it's more important than ever to harness the full potential of coaching at work.
Coaching is also a powerful way to boost employee morale and engagement. Discover how you can create a pro-active working enviroment and improve business performance.
Improve, inspire and lead your organisation to superior performance by anticipating and reacting to changes rapidly
Economist magazine reports that 80% of companies in the UK are unhappy with their planning and budgeting systems. Managers say that planning takes too long and costs too much. They say that traditional, once-a-year, fixed performance contract budgeting doesn't work in today's rapidly changing world. And in some organisations, key parts of the management system aren't linked together: strategy, budgeting, forecasting, performance measurement, management reporting, incentive compensation and corporate governance, all take place in separate parts of the business, and are managed in functional silos.
For organizations operating in an environment of continuous change, traditional budgeting has become out of date. Today, many senior management and line managers are turning to rolling forecasts to inspire and lead their organisations to superior performance.
Rolling forecasts offer greater visibility into future operating performance. Unlike budgets, they reflect the fact that operations don't switch off at year-end. Making good business projections isn't as hard as it sounds. Implemented correctly, rolling forecasting can be the single most valuable tool to identifying where changes need to be made in order to maximize profitability and minimize losses. Well-established forecasting techniques can take some of the guesswork out of operational decision making and put the focus back on optimizing profitability, rather than putting out fires.
This high value practical workshop will:
