I was educated at....
....Queen Mary, University of London. I hold a BSc in Economics with Banking and an MSc in Financial Economics.
My first job was....
....in 2007 as a Junior Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisition Division at Citigroup London. I’ve worked in investment banking ever since’ with different banks, including HSBC Global Asset Management and UBS.
What I do now is....
....I am currently the Managing Director of the Somali Economic Forum (www.somalieconomicforum.org)
The Somali Economic Forum (SEF) is an independent organization committed to improving the state of Somalia by engaging all leaders of society such as business, political and academic leaders to form regional and industry programs. The SEF has been established as a platform to discuss national economic and financial development; it has been evolving dynamically to reflect the changing economic landscape in the country and the region. With successful second consecutive annual events held in London, UK and Somalia, the Somali Economic Forum has become the most influential, recurring economic and financial congress in the country
Hassan M. Dudde is the Managing Director of the think tank on Somalia, the Somali Economic Forum. The Forum, founded in the United Kingdom, rallies for foreign direct investment to Somalia while, at the same time, researching and publishing economic related data on Somalia that is critical for any meaningful Investment.
Hassan's economic background and commitment to Somalia's economic recovery has placed him as an authority on Somalia in Europe. He has contributed on various debates on Somalia on various media platform e.g Al-Jazeera, BBC, Radio France International (RFI) and Vox Africa. He graduated from University of London in BSc Economics with Banking and MSc in Financial Economics from Queen Mary, University of London.
Hassan has worked in the investment banking industry in London since 2007 for banks including Citigroup, Mizuho International, HSBC Global Asset Management and UBS.
What I learned along the way is....
....the importance of hard work and commitment.
My greatest motivation has been....
....as far as my work at Somali Economic Forum is concerned, the desire to change people’s perception of Somalia by educating them about the country and the people, and letting them know that there is more to Somalia than the sad images the media show. That Somalia is a country rich in natural resources, advanced in telecoms, and with a growing young population with great business and entrepreneurial potential.
The best advice I ever received is....
....from my mother and that was “do not start doing a job/work if you are not going to do it properly”. I guess it helped me make decisions quickly.
My top tips for succeeding in my career area are....
....Believe in causes and be willing to make a difference
