Job Summary:	Responsible for veterinary services for domestic and international animal quarantine in the Central Division.
Job Description:	Responsible to Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) for the provision of veterinary services in relation to domestic and international animal quarantine in the Central Division: Formulate appropriate Sanitary Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) Measures, Import Risk Assessments (IRA), Pest Risk Analysis (PRA) and relevant standards and policies on veterinary matters and provide policy advice to the Executive Chairman through the Chief Veterinary Officer. Develop statistically based, scientifically sound Biosecurity protocols that follow the Office of International Epizootics (OIE) Guidelines and facilitate trade in accordance with Fiji’s World Trade Organisation (WTO) obligations. Responsible for the identification and analysis of animal and animal products. Ensure the safe introduction and administration of veterinary drug therapeutics Work in close collaboration with public and private sectors on matters relating to imports and exports of animal and animal products. Prepare budgetary funding for the veterinary section and monitor the performance of subordinates in meeting the output target specified in the Business Plan. Ensuring all subordinates are operating effectively, efficiently and providing quality veterinary services Maintain effective communications with other Divisions, stakeholders including regional and international counterparts on relevant matters. Reporting to the Chief Veterinary Officer in relation to performance of the Veterinary section. Formulate, develop and implement strategic business plans for the Veterinary section. Carry out Veterinary/Animal Health Surveys Conduct Veterinary Consultations Nationally, Regionally and Internationally.
Requirements:	The candidate must have a recognized Veterinary Science Degree registrable under the Fiji Veterinary Surgeons Act with at least 5 years’ experience in Veterinary Medicine and clinical Veterinary. A Masters or PHD in Veterinary and Masters in Management will be an added advantage.
