Welcome to the June issue of ReConnect Africa magazine. This month football has put the focus on Africa and on South Africa, in particular. In Transforming Lives through Ubuntu, we report on how a South African teacher and an American graduate visiting South Africa discovered a shared passion for education and used its power to change people's lives. In Kenya – Investing in Art, Rachel Keeler explores East Africa's art market which lags behind its neighbours in West and South Africa but could still be an interesting investment proposition. In our section on Careers, leading coach Robin Alcock offers some advice on Improving your Chances at Interviews and explains how managing impressions is critical to our chances of succeeding at interview. This month our Careers Coach offers some advice on how not to sabotage your career in 'Help! I Don't Know what I'm Doing Wrong!' When a group of Nigerian bloggers started an online story, they had little idea it would eventually turn into a book. In In My Dreams It was Simpler we speak to the creator of the blog, Tolulope Popoola about how the novel came to be created. In Steered Away from Science we report on a new national survey that highlights how U.S. women and minority scientists were discouraged from pursuing careers in science and technology. In this month's Opinion section, Nigerian Tukeni Obasi comments on how efforts to tackle HIV/AIDS in Africa are being undermined by the African movie industry in Kill Me if You Can... And You Most Certainly Can! It's back to South Africa for our guest interviewee in this month's '5 Minute Interview'. Aaron Mokoena, Captain of South Africa's national football team, Bafana Bafana, answers our questions and shares some of the lessons he has learned along the way. We go back into the ReConnect Africa Archives and give you another chance to read 10 Tips on How Not to Negotiate in which Lin Sagovsky takes a tongue in cheek look at 10 Ways to Bludgeon People into Agreeing with You (sometimes known as 'Negotiation').
