I was educated at ……… Midlands Christian College and Chisipite Senior School, both in Zimbabwe, and the London School of Economics. My first job was…… … working as a croupier during university. What I do now is…… … I am a Risk Manager for a fund management firm and Editor of The Actuary magazine. What I learned along the way is…… … little that is worthwhile in life is effortless. Marjorie Ngwenya is the Editor of The Actuary, the magazine of the UK actuarial profession. A qualified actuary (Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries), who specialises in risk management, Marjorie gained her actuarial qualification at Deloitte where she held roles in the UK, Netherlands and Canada. Marjorie has previously held positions of Business Development Manager at GenRe and Senior Risk Actuary at Swiss Re. She is currently the Head of Governance and Risk Management at Acorn Fund Management. Marjorie’s experience spans the fields of pensions, fund management, life insurance and health insurance. Marjorie serves on the Board of Trustees for the Legal Assistance Trust supporting the Legal Resources Centre of South Africa. My greatest influence has been…… … my parents and inspiring career role models I've met along the way. The best advice I ever received was…… … your life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
